Welcome, bloggers and other GIPC'ers working on the 5k wellness challenge!

This blog is for anyone interested in increasing their wellness, especially those who want to take on the 5k challenge. You define the nature of that challenge -- run, jog, walk. Maybe your goal is to jog 1 mile rather than 3 , or simply to walk regularly. That's great, too. Anything you do that gets you off the couch! (Remember to check with your physician before undertaking any new exercise.)

Check in here for support and join the conversation. There will be a generic item posted every day so that you can post comments on topics of interest related to the challenge. Questions, comments, tips, exciting discoveries or achievements? Record them here for community response. Looking for a walking or jogging partner? Post it.

If you are on the home page, click on the notation "x Comments" to go to a page where you can post your item. If you click on the posting for the day as listed on the Archive on the right side of the page, a Comment box will show automatically, as will all the comments previously made.

Let's take ourselves out for a spin and see what we can do!

Post-Christmas low?

Hi, all! I hope that Christmas was all you hoped for. Or maybe good enough is a better target. I don't know about you, but hoping for perfection almost always leaves me feeling a bit let down. Overall, my holiday was satisfying. We had a good visit with our son and his girlfriend, plus the Christmas week services I went to were moving and meaningful.

We will kick off our C-2-5k challenge officially on January 2. Please stop by the crossroads for a copy of a possible training plan to use or modify as works best for you, if interested. Check in to this blog as often as you want and make comments on the daily post. Ask questions, reflect on your training experience, whatever....

Have a blessed and safe remainder of the year. See you in January!

  1. You know how much you desire something when you can't have it?...now that I have to put running aside until my tendon heals I REALLY want to run! I am allowed slow walks - but have not even attempted that because I hate walking slow. I think my running partner, Monroe, is in a funk, too.

  2. Getting back into exercising tomorrow. The hecticness of the holidays really pushed me to the limit on how much time I had leftover to exercise. Wrong approach, I know! The holidays are over, back to putting exercise at the top of the list...

  3. I decided I needed to get out there and move, so tried a walk. Monroe was very happy to be back on the leash. It was cold and when I hit the 1/2 mile mark I knew I had to turn around. I guess I'm used to creating more heat when running and will need to add an extra layer for walking. It was great to be outside - big sky & all.
